Ok here’s what I think.. Muhammed was doing an essay for his school, plagiarised the scriptures, made his own changes hoping no one would notice. The professor threw it in the trash, it got lost and found many years later and someone thought it was a real thing and started a new religion out of it. It’s the only explanation. And of course like any student, he was drinking and doing drugs which made the stories all the more bizarre and ungodly.
